Beat writer Tony Grossi says that Browns running back Peyton Hillis will get a new contract by the end of the year. Hillis is heading into the final year of a deal that will pay him just $555,000 this season. After racking up 1,654 total yards and 13 touchdowns last season, he's certainly underpaid. The Browns are wise to make Hillis "prove it" this season before handing him a lucrative extension. Source: RotoTimes
Good on the part of the Browns. Guess they learned their lesson after what happened with Derek Anderson and his one hit wonder of a season.
I highly doubt Hillis will have another season like last year. But the guy is a solid RB that plays hard and plays the right way. The Browns will take care of him.
Odd, a physical tough running back who's getting paid a little more than CJ who is an elusive fast running back yet is still playing this season even though he's more apt to have a career/season ending injury done to him. Hmm.
Failure on multiple levels. The Anderson example doesn't really compare too well to Hillis's situation at all. You're right that Goofy ended up being paid more than he was worth in production. But he was a starting QB coming off a good season about to be a free agent (2008). Between keeping Anderson or rolling with Quinn, "they" didn't make such a terrible decision. (Not to mention that if things go different, Cleveland probably doesn't not end up with Hillis.) "They" escaped without giving Anderson a longer, richer deal, and secured their starting QB for not-too-terrible of a price. And "they" are gone, anyway- Phil Savage got the boot a long time ago.
From what you said my comment wasn't much of a failure because you validated what I said. Granted you did point out some other key facts to show the difference in situations but to call my comment a failure and then say "doesn't not" lmao well let's just say I stopped paying attention after that.
