ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter confirms the Steelers plan to use the franchise tag on strong safety Troy Polamalu next year. The two sides may revisit long-term talks after the season, but the Steelers have a strict policy of no in-season negotiations. The front office doesn't have to worry about losing wide receiver Mike Wallace because his free agency is restricted. Source: RotoTimes
Hey i though the same thing about B.Dawk and ...... .......this is what happened But i don't see that happening with the steelers though (knock on wood)
This is good for both sides..I think.. But if he plays his butt of and totally beasts this year and goes elsewhere that crap is really going to hurt that secondary and franchise.
He is top tier as long as he's not injured. He can catch the injury bug every now and again and the Steelers need to be cautious with him...I think they ultimately tag him, I don't think they want to go down the Rod Woodson road...I think they kind of feel like they have egg on their face from that misjudgment.
They really hecked up by not retaining Woodson. Who knows? Maybe he would've been a Steeler coaching assistant by now instead of Oakland if things were reserved.
woodson considers himself a steeler even though he didnt get his ring with them...i dont think theres any bad blood there. if i said i cared if they resigned troy long term id be lying, id franchise him for a year or 2 and let him go...great player but seriously lacks in playing time due to injuries
I think the Steelers should sign him for what he's done for the franchise. Kind of how the Colts signed Peyton to that 5yr $90 Million deal or the Yankees signed Jeter even though he's declining because of age. If there is any team in the league whose loyal enough to do that it's the Steelers.
I do love T. Polamalu but he has been missing more and more games as he gets older and older, i think its very smart of the steelers to franchise him next year pending how healthy he stays
