Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Mason Foster was fined $20,000 by the league Wednesday for his hit on Patriots receiver Chad Ochocinco last week, reports The Tampa Tribune. The rookie drew an unnecessary roughness penalty in the first quarter of the Buccaneers' 31-14 preseason loss to the Patriots. Ochocinco was about to catch a pass from Tom Brady when Foster hit him high, separating the receiver from the football. Foster's agent, Steve Caric, told the Tribune he will appeal the fine on Foster's behalf. Ochocinco had no problem with the hit and informed Foster via Twitter that he would reimburse the rookie if the NFL fined him. Source: NFL.com
Might as well start playing with Jockeys and midgets. The gigantic men can't be expected to pull up on a hit over the middle. And let's be honest if you want to call helmet to helmet contact on every play just look and the hogs on the LOS. THis is all a bunch of horsecrap and the NFL is dying because of it.
When the WR says that's how real men play football or whatever he said and a fine STILL follows, it's gotten out of control!!!! Even if it is Ocho just starting crap with the NFL front office.
This isn't the first time Ochocinco defended a defensive player for a hit he took. I think if the recipient of the hit says it's "all good" the NFL should leave it at that.
