New England wide receiver Wes Welker has left Saturday night's preseason game at Detroit with a neck injury. Welker's return is questionable. Welker appeared to suffer the injury while attempting to make a tackle on an interception thrown by quarterback Tom Brady late in the second quarter. The injury was announced early in the third quarter with the Patriots trailing 27-10. Welker was New England's leading receiver last season, catching 86 passes for 848 yards. Source: ESPN Boston
Not carted off, had no idea he was even injured until they mentioned it. My guess it was a stinger, he'll be ready to go probably figured it's a meaningless preseason game, didn't want to risk further injury.
I find this story very hard to believe. Tom Brady doesn't throw interceptions...it's all a fake. If Welker is out for a good amount of time, this should be good for Hernandez. He should pick up a lot of the slack. Hell, there's a chance he could have the most receiving yards on that team. Brady loves him...
