Saints To Sign Free Agent PK John Kasay

  1. Former Carolina Panthers placekicker John Kasay is apparently not going to stay unemployed for long. According to an NFL source, Kasay is on his way to likely signing a deal with the New Orleans Saints to be a placekicker for the team. The Saints have used Garrett Hartley as their primary placekicker for the past three seasons and he has been mostly successful. Hartley made three field goals of more than 40 yards in the Saints' Super Bowl win and he was 20-for-25 last season, a percentage only slightly worse than Kasay's, but on at least one occasion in the past the Saints have signed veteran John Carney to take Hartley's place temporarily (before eventually releasing Carney). It is unclear as of yet whether -- if Kasay is ultimately signed -- that Hartley would be cut or if there would be a competition or if the Saints would keep two kickers on their roster for awhile, which they have done at times before under coach Sean Payton.

  2. I guess in his point of his career......it's more beneficial to him playing in a dome 8 times a year than dealing with the conditions at the Meadowlands.

Was hoping he ended up in Big Blue but New Orleans is a great fit for him. And he gets to potentially face the Panthers twice a year.
