Bears LB Lance Briggs Seeks Trade After Pay Raise Denied

Discussion in 'Chicago Bears' started by BigBlueBruiser, Sep 2, 2011.

  1. Linebacker Lance Briggs has made a formal request that he be able to seek a trade from the Chicago Bears after the team would not give him a raise. "The Bears made their decision, now I have to make mine," Briggs told the Chicago Tribune Thursday. "It's just how the business works. It's not going to take away from what I do on the field. I'm 100 percent a Bear, until I'm not a Bear anymore." Agent Drew Rosenhaus sent an email to Bears contract negotiator Cliff Stein requesting the trade, the newspaper reported. Briggs has three years remaining on the six-year, $36 million deal he signed in 2008. He is slated to earn $3.9 million this season, $4 million in 2012 and $6.5 million in 2013. Briggs said he was willing to wait until after the season to request a trade if the Bears didn't budge, but after speaking to general manager Jerry Angelo Sunday, he decided to move now. "I understand and respect their decision," Briggs said, according to the newspaper.

    Get Him Out!!!!

GOOD, get him out of Chicago!!!!! As a life long Bears fan I have to say I'd like nothing more than to get rid of this moron!!! The last time he pulled this garbage he said "I'll never wear a Chicago Bears uniform again" and they should have taken him at his word instead of paying him. He sealed his fate in my eyes and from that point in 2008 I never rooted for him, or called him by his name he's been #55 from that point on. If I were in charge in Chicago I'd send him off to the WORST team in the league for a few decent draft picks next year and maybe some cash. Good riddance I say, GET RID OF HIM TODAY!!!!!!! :wave3::wave3::wave3:

When it took only 6 years and $36 million to keep Briggs back in 2008, I was suprised. However, I'am NOT suprised that he's snitching about his pay, in the 4th season of his current contract. Sorry Lance, you asked for a raise and you where denied, thats LIFE.

I believe it is, it seemed like every season for like 3 years he was asking to be traded or released and snitching and moaning about not wanting to play for the Bears...but shonuff he is always still a Bear.

In the offseason just after the 2006 season, the Bears used the franchise tag on Briggs and he held out of all offseason activitives and training camp before signing. And now he pulls this crap.:icon_rolleyes:
