Former Giants running back Tiki Barber was said to be "devastated" that no NFL team expressed an interest in him following his return as a 36-year-old free agent, Sports Illustrated reported Monday. Now that the preseason is behind us, Alex Marvez is playing teacher and handing out marks. Barber, who led the NFL's backs in rushing-receiving yards in his final three pro seasons, filed papers in March to come out of retirement and was officially removed from the Giants retired list in late July. But Barber's agent, Mark Lepselter, confirmed his expectations at landing a team after four years out of the game were not fulfilled by the time teams finalized their 53-man rosters for Week 1. "We are flabbergasted that Tiki has not had an opportunity with any team, especially when rosters were at 90 players this year," Lepselter said. "I certainly thought some team would be intrigued to see what he had left in the tank." Source: FOX Sports
Let's see here... 36 years young, last team he was on he threw the starting QB under the bus immediately after he left... And he is only back because he cheated on his wife (that was pregnant) and is out of money. You made your bed assclown.. Sleep in it!!!
Personally, I don't see age being too much of an issue (With the right levels of training/recovery time), and in a way he'd be much more effective now than he would be at this point had he continued playing. But, as brought up, he's coming back because he lost his job and money, and If I was a GM, that would be the killer. If we wanted back because he's missed the game and hungry to get back, or wanted to have a last shot at a Superbowl, then maybe, just maybe, someone would have given him the light of day and possibly have him a run out in camp. Plus, throwing your former teammates and coach under the bus every chance you get, cheating on your pregnant with twins wife with a bimbo and then pleading poverty/depression isn't the feel good redemption story that helped take Michael Vick and Plaxico Burress back into the hearts of Americans.
Yo...Tiki. Devastation is what happened when that tsunami hit Japan. This is the NFL's way of telling you that you're a rod.
You're absolutely right. NFL teams have consistently shown that if you've got some game they will let any ex-con, wife beater and even those convicted of DUI Manslaughter a try out. And the fact that he didn't even get a nibble may ultimately define Tiki Barber.
It's shock you Tiki that no one wants a selfish 36 year old who hasn't played the 3 years? Oh Well welcome to reality
You deserve everything coming to you..now you feel what your wife felt when you cheated on her you doucher!!!!
Aw, poor baby. Take your "devastation", and head off to the unemployment line. Tiki's next line..... "Welcome to Burger King, may I take your order?"
