According to Tim McManus of Philly Sports Daily, DeSean Jackson is willing to start the season without a new deal but expects to cash in "in line with the recently adjusted market for star wide receivers." Larry Fitzgerald landed an eight-year, $128.5 million deal after Santonio Holmes signed a five-year, $45.5 million contract. Agent Drew Rosenhaus wants a five-year deal "that fits somewhere between the two, though much closer to Holmes' money." The Eagles aren't believed to even be "in the same ballpark," and have yet to make an official offer. Talks have broken off on the doorstep of the 2011 season.

    5 year, $50 million, $25 guaranteed.

Or we can franchise yo' butt year after year.

Take it or leave it, D-Jax!

The Eagles are disappointing me in the way they're are handling this.

Only so much time/money right now. Took care of #1 priority (FA signings), #2 priority (signing Vick long term), and are now clearing more and more cap space to, in all likelihood, extend DeSean.

Need to have money and cap space before you can extend someone.

Also, they aren't going to overpay. And you and I and everyone else know Rosenhaus is going to try and get way more money than DeSean is worth.

Jackson isn't worth that kind of money. His deal needs to be incentive based.

I'm actually quite happy with the way the Eagles are handling this. They're not letting the player dictate it. They stood their ground asking him to come into camp and he did. They said they'd work with him and they are. They're not just freaking out and throwing money at him. I love DeSean generally and think that Andy Reid needs to tell him to go over the middle and I'll give you your money. Jackson is basically Todd Pinkston with a lot more talent but the same amount of nerve.
