Albert Irby, the agent for quarterback David Garrard said that five teams called in the 24 hours after Garrard's release and he's fielded a few more calls since then according to Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union. He declined to name teams, saying most of the teams that contacted him didn't want their names out there so as not to "upset the apple cart" with their current quarterbacks. "We're not interested in being a temporary fix," Irby said. "Dave wants to go somwhere where eventually he can help the team win a championship. Although there are some temporary jobs out there, it's not that we're saying absolutely no. We would rather just go to one more organization and call it a day." Irby said he's fielded some calls today, there has been a mixture of roles for which teams are interested in Garrard between wanting him as a quick fix, as a backup and as a starter. He said a decision could happen in the next five minutes or the next five days. Any team that signs him now, since he was not on their roster week one, won't have to guarantee his salary for the year. Source: theredzone.org
