Panthers MLB Jon Beason has never missed a game in his five-year career. But after injuring his Achilles' tendon in yesterday's loss at Arizona, Carolina's defensive leader will be out for the rest of the 2011 season. The former first-round pick from Miami (Fla.) and three-time Pro Bowler has averaged 135 tackles during his first four seasons, leading the Panthers three of those years. He had four stops yesterday before going down while covering Cardinals TE Jeff King, his former teammate, who exploited the fallen Beason for a 48-yard TD reception. Fourth-year man Dan Connor will take over in the middle. Source: USA Today
