Tom Brady and the New England Patriots kicked off the NFL season in spectacular fashion, defeating the rival Miami Dolphins 38-24 on Monday. Brady threw for four touchdowns and a career-high 517 passing yards, highlighted by a NFL-record tying 99-yard toss to Wes Welker. Brady's 517 passing yards were the most in the NFL since 1996. In a losing cause, Dolphins QB Chad Henne threw for 416 yards and two scores on 30 of 49 passes. Source: Associated Press
Lost in all this is that the Patriots defense needed a 517 yard night to win. They gave up yards in chunks too.
Im not looking too far into that. Those numbers are inflated because the Dolphins had to throw all night.
Tom looked awesome, but the D was less than stellar. Got a kick out of one of the announcers saying the Pats don't have very good receivers. They sure looked Dam good tonight. They've got a bunch that can flat out catch, and get yards after the reception. Very underated group.
I heard that too. I started laughing... The worst receiver on that team ( including TEs) is Ocho Cinco. That was a plain old dumb statement...maybe they were trying to give Brady even more credit?
