Mike Tripplet of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Drew Brees' agent Tom Condon is in town today to meet with the New Orleans Saints about Brees' contract, according to a league source. So far the two sides have not been close to a new deal, so today's face-to-face meeting between Condon and General Manager Mickey Loomis is intended to narrow the gap in their negotiations. Brees, 32, is in the final year of his current contract with the Saints. But the Saints aren't under any immediate pressure to work out an extension since they can use the franchise tag on him next year. Source: The Redzone
They better not wait. Sure they can use the franchise tag but just get the deal done. Screw the quick fix.
