Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports one NFL insider, who is very familiar with Reggie Bush's career, said if the Dolphins continue to use Bush the way he was utilized against the Patriots "he won't last past week five." "I guess we'll see. Only time will tell. I really can't say I have a crystal ball," Bush said about his durability. "I just know that when they call my number. That's what it is. I try to make the most of my opportunities whether it's inside the tackles or outside the tackles. I don't think you can say that, you know, if you continue to run a guy between the tackles, he's going to get hurt. You look at Walter Payton, he was only 200 pounds. "I'm not saying I'm Walter Payton, but I'm just saying that I don't have a crystal ball," said Bush, who gained 38 rushing yards on 11 carries and caught nine passes for 56 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots. "I don't know what the exact number is or how many times I should run the ball. I don't even think about it…all I think about is when my number is called…make the most of the opportunity and give our offense a chance." It not just about Bush's health re running him between the tackles, it about production - if a nice hole is NOT there Bush might pick up 2 - 3 yards, if Thomas or Johnson is running they can break a tackle or a drag a defender and strectch that to 4 - 5 yards. no he can't. hasn't done it before and won't now. stupid idiot should do what he does best. he is not a power runner so why try? split him wide and watch him score. run "backward bush" between the tackles and get ready for a 3 and out.
Why is he so adamant in claiming he's a three down and between the tackle back. Everyone knows he can't do it, there is nothing wrong with only being able to run the ball ~10 times a game and being a pass catching back, he's damn good at it. Maybe the best in the league at doing that. Accept what you can do and be the best at it.
Did he sign a long term contract with the Dolphins? I hear it was just a two year deal. If so he want to be showcased so he can get a big contract elsewhere. He is not an every down back. Not even a power back. Once in a while he will run over a small corner but not often. He makes a great back split out wide. Put him there and let him go. Actually would lengthen his career.
