Jaguars Pull QB Luke McCown For Rookie Blaine Gabbert

The Blaine Gabbert era has started for the Jaguars. Trailing 32-3 during the fourth quarter, the Jaguars pulled starter QB Luke McCown in favor of Gabbert, the team’s first-round pick in April’s draft. McCown was having what we’ll call a rough day — completing just six of 19 passes for 59 yards and four interceptions — that coach Jack Del Rio finally decided to put to an end. Things didn’t go that much better for Gabbert — he led the Jaguars on a nine-play drive that ended in a failed fourth-down conversion — but he didn’t throw an interception.

Id be pretty mad if i was a jags fan....how do you release your starting qb a week before the season starts?

 

b/c they love Blaine Gabbert. Chiefs might be on the phone to Garrard right now...lol.

 

I think somewhere down the line, Jack Del Rio was like "I wonder how many dumb things can I do before they finally fire me?"

 

If the Jags knew then what they know now I'm sure they would still let go of Garrard because they're stupid hecks.

 

It wasn't Del Rio. It was "upper mgmt."

 

They knew what they were doing...they wanted McCown to start until Gabbert was ready. With Garrard, Gabbert wouldn't be able to crack the line up...

 

Add to that the fact that Del Rio was never fond of Garrard after 07 anyway...
