Contract negotiations between Drew Brees and the Saints are picking up steam, according to Pro Football Talk. That doesn't mean a deal is imminent, or is certain to be completed. PFT, citing an unnamed source with knowledge of the situation, said Saturday the two sides are talking "non-stop", but discussions could be halted if no agreement is reached within a week. The report said the chances of a new deal in that timeframe is a "close call". Brees is in the final year of a six-year, $60 million deal. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Michael Vick all received recent long-term extensions. Source: Sporting News
