Colts owner Jim Irsay says there is an “outside chanceâ€￾ Peyton Manning might return in December. Irsay used Twitter on Monday to update Colts fans on Manning’s status after remarks he made during a private breakfast with Super Bowl donors. Team spokesman Avis Roper says Manning’s status has not changed and the franchise quarterback has not been placed on season-ending injured reserve. A few minutes later, Irsay wrote this: “I didn’t say Peyton out 4season FOR SURE,keeping him on ActiveRoster n taking it month by month/Outside chance of return n December possible.â€￾ The final regular-season game is Jan. 1. Manning has missed all three games this season after his third neck surgery in 19 months, and the Colts are off to an 0-3 start without the league’s four-time MVP.

  2. Not worth it Jim.......other than fantasy owners.

IR him and keep him in the booth as a playcaller this year.

That was my initial reaction but I can see why they might want him to play. A little more then a year out off football would be tough on anyone. I can see both sides of it.

Why? They'll be out of the playoffs by then, just IR him. Let Painter show what he has, see if he's a legit backup and if not draft one this upcoming draft with the high pick.

Painter a legit backup or not, the Colts should be drafting it trading for the future this past draft. It's imperative next year.

OT-Look at Suggs getting mugged in the picture, probably why we couldnt beat Peyton! lmao j/k...but back to topic, its not worth it, especially since he's had multiple procedures done. I know the Colts would be kinda concerned with paying a 28 million dollar roster bonus without seeing him in a regular season game but i think playing him to early is the worst of the 2 risks.

This is only being said so when all the questions about the Colts throwing the towel in on the season to secure the first pick arise, they can point to this statement to try to save face.
