NEW YORK -- Fans at Citi Field got to see very little of free-agent-to-be Jose Reyes on perhaps his final day as a Met. Reyes, in the lead for the National League batting crown, delivered a bunt single to lead off the bottom of the first inning of the Mets' 3-0 win over the Reds. He then was pulled as New York Mets manager Terry Collins adhered to the shortstop's request to be removed if he singled. Some fans booed after realizing Collins had sent Justin Turner to pinch-run for Reyes.

I kind of wanted to add "and becomes history" in the title. It's a shame he most likely isn't a Met next year. But still, the first batting title in team history with some of the mashers we've had on our squads is pretty awesome. Best of luck Jose! Thanks for the memories. Let's hope we see him again!

If having Reyes in the lineup gives the Mets the best chance to win, then Reyes and his manager should be booed for the sake of a personal award. Next time someone says there's no "I" in team one just needs to point to this to prove them wrong.

It's not like the Mets are in position to make it to the playoffs. Let the guy make history for a team who isn't going anywhere fast.

I have yet to hear one comment in support of what Reyes did by baseball insiders. The jury's in: Reyes is a cat.

I am on board with the 2 in this situation. Because John Kruk's tranny loving butt doesn't agree with it doesn't make it wrong. It's Mets history and there was no reason to keep him that game. Nothing on the line, barely any fans there, who gives a crap.

sorry duke, this happyy move even tops the favre blow**b/flop move to give strahan the single season sack record.

    gutless.

if you support this you should

1- turn in your eagles fan card

2- turn your nuts over to the first woman that passes you by on the street.

This is like if Peyton Manning took the first snap of the game then went to the bench. It's an absolute shame and disrespect to the sport and shows that Reyes is just making himself look good for the paycheck.

x2. I'd be ashamed of myself if I did it the way he did. He couldn't even take a real swing. He freaking bunted. It literally gets no lower than that.

Well being a Cubs fan, I thought the Cardinals getting in was pretty big queaf. But that's for another thread. lol.

It is a shame that Reyes has the conversation on him instead of the playoff races. It really was the most intriguing final day of the baseball season in years, maybe ever.

Y'all can tramp all you want. The Mets have their first batting title in the teams history. It was an epic night but the Yanks handing the Rays that game I think is far worse. But it's okay, I'm content with it and hope that Reyes is a Met for a long, long time.

duke - nobody would be down on reyes if he did it like a man.

btw - personally i think the mets find a way to keep him. if they dont they lose a huge reason why fans would go to that new stadium and it's only getting half filled now.

And why isn't anyone making a big deal out of the Brewers pulling Braun on Tuesday night after he went 2-2? He came out in the 4th I believe. No injury and don't give me the "resting him up" for the playoffs crap.
