Former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator and long-time NFL veteran assistant Mike Heimerdinger lost his fight wtih cancer Friday night, he was 58. Heimerdinger was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in his spine last year, but continued to coach for the Titans, rarely missing a practice or meeting even while he was undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Heimerdinger was not retained by new head coach Mike Munchak when he took the place of Jeff Fisher early this off-season. Heimerdinger had two different stints as Titans offensive coordinator, first serving in the post from 2000-04 where he helped mold Steve McNair into the NFL's co-MVP in 2003, he then left for the offensive coordinator's role with the New York Jets, and served one year there before going back to Denver. Heimerdinger returned to the Titans in 2008 as offensive coordinator and served in that capacity for three seasons.

That's a shame. He was a good dude. He was a regular guest on NFL Radio and seemed like a fun, funny guy. Brought a lot of knowledge to the fans and listeners.

    RIP.
