Coach Rob Ryan Says Calvin Johnson Not As Good As Cowboys Receivers

Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News reports Rob Ryan faces perhaps his toughest task yet as the Cowboys defensive coordinator: This week, Ryan has to find a way to slow Detroit standout receiver Calvin Johnson. Ryan said Friday that Johnson is "a great receiver," but not as good as the Cowboys receiving duo of Miles Austin and Dez Bryant. Johnson has two touchdowns in each of the Lions' three games so far. "We work against better receivers with Miles Austin and Dez Bryant. They are probably two of the premier receivers in football, but this guy is right there," Ryan said. "He's almost that good. He's excellent. "We're going to get after him. I know he's on some touchdown thing like that, whatever. [Lions offensive coordinator] Scott Linehan has done this before with great receivers with Randy Moss. If the guy is as good as Randy Moss I'm going to go in there and hide. Thank God he's not, but he's a pretty [expletive] good player."

this is the kind of headline i was afraid we'd see often when we signed him. but it's no big deal, i'd just prefer they didn't pop up. back them up and there ain't a problem in the world.

Honestly maybe other then the Texans (Andre Johnson) Megathon would be a number one recevier. I think he'll slice apart the Cowboys on Sunday.

I don't even know what to say to this. It would be the stupidest thing to ever come out of a Ryan's mouth, but his brother has a bigger one that he does.

Yea. The great ones do situps in their driveway or send pics of their junk to hot reporters.

But honestly, I don't think Ryan has done a situp, or seen his junk, since high school.

He must have meant Dez Bryant and Miles Austin combined.

He's a Ryan. They say stupid crap sometimes. But to be honest there is no other defensive coordinator I would rather have coaching our team.

YEAH DUDE! CHAMPION OF THE UNIVERSE!

It must of really hurt watching Johnson catch that touchdown at the end to WIN after that junk he was quoted saying.

He did look good tho (Robinson). Im hoping he sticks as the #3

Johnson just isnt fair. IIRC both his TD's were perfectly defended. Just nothing you can do with 6'5 240 with 4.3 speed
