Frank Gore’s 12-yard run capped a second-half comeback, lifting the San Francisco 49ers past the Philadelphia Eagles 24-23 Sunday. The 49ers (3-1), leaders of the NFC West, were unable to slow Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who threw for a career-high 416 yards and ran for another 75 but they did victimize Philadelphia’s porous defense throughout the second half, however, storming back from a 23-3 deficit. The Eagles (1-3), last in the NFC East, were damaged by the kicking game, too. David Akers, their longtime kicker who left for San Francisco as a free agent last summer, kicked the decisive extra point while his replacement, Alex Henery, missed from 39 and 33 yards in the fourth quarter. San Francisco took advantage, with Alex Smith’s TD passes of 30 yards to Joshua Morgan and 9 to Vernon Davis sparking the rally. Source: Associated Press
The only thing that doesn't make this as bad is that the Cowboys choked WORSE today. But for real. I think Juan Castillo is the WORST addition that this team made this offseason. Yes, I know he was already in the organization but freaking A. I'd rather them just let a different fan take a shot each week at being the DC. Have you ever heard of blitzing? Freaking A.
Juan Castillo is his Defensive Coordinator. If you said that too him he wouldn't understand anything that you just said. He knows how to beat zone and man but how to put guys in it, FREAK! I have no idea!! He was the single dumbest thing the Eagles did this off-season. I understand they wanted to bring in Howard Mudd and not lose Castillo but making him the freaking DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR!?? For hecks sake!
i agree with the duke about castillo. it made absolutely no sense at the time but i still decided to wait and see. well i saw and it isnt working.
Whats even worse is they wont let castillo go cause hes all buddy buddy with andy. I really would be happy to see someone fired this week
My pregame speeches would be epic and i would have my players do coke before the game so they have a a killer mentality
The hecked up thing is that Castillo is still only 4 games into his stint as DC. I mean come on, the guy probably doesn't even really know the direction he wants to go with his schemes. While he deserves some of the blame, that really should be directed at Reid. He made the call to hire Castillo to this role knowing all of the circumstances. He knew the team was going all out in FA and still decided to put this guy in that position. Castillo could be great one day. But it almost certainly won't be this year. And that's an epic freaking fail on the Eagles brbutt.
