Twitter is a wonderful online forum for professional athletes to reach the public and remove any kind of filter when it comes to the message they want to spread, it’s also a very dangerous environment where they can do damage to themselves. That’s just what happened to Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Bernard Berrian, who engaged in some back-and-forth with followers on Sunday night and eventually told one fan to “sit down n shut up!!†It wasn’t just any fan, though, it was John Kriesel, a Minnesota state representative who is a double amputee and an Iraq war veteran and Berrian is supposed to hold a press conference of sorts in the Vikings locker room this afternoon in an effort to clear up this mess. It all started Sunday night after the Vikings fell to 0-4 with a 22-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Berrian has two catches for 37 yards on the season and said that’s not a reflection of how open he’s been. When Kriesel challenged him on Twitter, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, that’s when things took a turn for the worse, Berrian wrote on his account @B_Twice: “@johnkriesel Anytime u wanna watch the film with me. I had something I wanted to say but after reading the guy's timeline it's clear that the media (as always) blew this out of proportion. Honestly though if someone comes at me wrong I respond, plain and simple, war veteran or not.
HAHA to someones face? These guys are ALL snitches and don't have the balls to stand up to anyone. Twitter, modern day alcohol...that you don't NEED to do ANYTHING after. At least after Ditka got liquored up he'd smash some snitches!!
I beg to differ about athletes being snitches. They're damned of they do and damned if they don't. Athlete says this to a fan he's a horrible person, needs to be more of a role model, gets fined, loses endorsements and so on. If he doesn't because he wants to protect his money or whatever he's a snitch. I'm a fan too but I guess the cynic in me runs deep because I think most fans are snitches.
Blown out of proportion, and the double amputee has prosthetic legs, and can still stand up and sit down. Berrian sucks ass, though. Two 3+ reception games last year, on pace to be even craptier this year.
Everything on Twitter is blown out of proportion. And I'm a supporter of our troops and I admire the guy for giving what he did. But being a war vet isn't a free pass to bust balls and get away with it scott free.
My point is that everyone today is a "bad ass" because they have a twitter. If Berrian had something to say to the guy, say it to him. I don't care if he was a double amputee or a 6'7, 300 pound interior lineman for the Vikings. Say it to his face. Don't hide behind a twitter account.
I could not of said it better my self. I went to high school with a back up te in the nfl, we are still friend. And he wont even let anyone touch his phone because of fear of someone putting something stupid on his twitter or facebook. It's easy to judge someone or talk crap about someone when you don't have to face them. Most fans would kiss the players asses if they ever got a chance to shake their hand knowing that 5 minutes ago they were just talking crap about that player. LET'S GO 9ERS!!!
Thanks for your service, but double amputee buttholes are still buttholes. Did Berrian know he was a double amputee or was he just responding to a twitter name? Either way, he shouldn't be responding to trolls on his twitter feed.
This guy was a sponsor of the proposed stadium bill and the real gem lost in all this is Kriesel's tweet to another follower.
