Nnamdi Asomugha has gotten off to a slow start in his first season with the Eagles. Asomugha is one of the league's best man-cover corners, but defensive coordinator Juan Castillo has been playing a lot of zone coverage, which has taken Asomugha away from what he does best. "You're talking about one of the greatest corners in this game right now," coach Andy Reid said. "He's been thrown into a little different scheme, and Asante (Samuel) went through it a little bit when he first came here. Nnamdi is going through it, and he didn't have the luxury of minicamps and all that. Ninety percent of his plays are great, and there's a handful that he'd like to have back. He'll take care of that. He's a great player, and schematically, we'll put him in the best possible position we can. That's our responsibility to do that." Source: The Sports Xchange
Think about it. He's still technically learning the defense. The loss of the off season is freaking w a lot of people.
Andy, the Scheme isn't the problem. It's the moronic coaches who have no idea how to put players in the right position and to play to each of the players strength.
dont worry - reid is a master at squeezing square pegs into round holes. thats why he has so many lombardis sitting behind his desk.
