The San Francisco 49ers blew out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 48-3 to improve to 4-1 on the season, but the win has come with a steep price. Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports No. 1 wide receiver Josh Morgan suffered a fractured right ankle late in the fourth quarter. "You've got to play," 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said. "You can't take a knee with four minutes left in the game. It could have been a run. Josh was competing. I think he's going to be OK. (Backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick) is competing. He's got to get the work. We're not taking a knee with four minutes left in the game." Morgan had a season-high five receptions for 75 yards on Sunday. Through five games this season, the 2008 sixth-round pick out of Virginia Tech leads 49ers wide receivers with 15 receptions for 220 yards this season. Source: Mac's Football Blog
My "deal" is why was he in the game that late in a blow out? Why were they still throwing the ball down field that late, up by that much? This is why teams sub in scrubs in those games.
I was only kidding. Have you seen the video of harbaugh and pete caroll after the usc blowout against stanford? Honestly who saw that coming? Dont feel too bad at least the Bucs are still in a decent position for a playoff run. They have a lot of talent.....which is why I was so surprised it was 48-3. :icon_eek:
This is a bad loss for the Niners IMO. He was a pretty versatile receiver if I'm not mistaken and pretty much makes the position super thin. Who is the #2 guy now? Ginn? Looks llike the Niners should be scouring the practice squads...
Ginn and Crabtee will be the starting WRS going forward. I am kind of anxious to see Kyle Williams get his shot in the slot. We don't use many 3-4 wr sets anyways so it means D-Walker should get more playtime and looks. That 2 TE said we ran quite a bit exposed the bucs.

Yeah this loss of Morgan is a very tough one. He has been a silent killer for us who was making some big plays. Too bad there arent any good FA's out there to sign... (Pull Moss outta retirement!)
