Not knowing what was told to Miller before the benching hopefully they gave him the order to "zone defend" or something similar and he just blew it off then got benched. Otherwise, I don't understand why they benched him for what they drafted him No. 1 for. I mean, where's the DB's on these running plays?
Everyone has their holes they have to fill. If he's not filling his holes that's on him. You can't always expect the DB's to cover their responsibility and completely back up a rookie LB making mistakes. If he's freaking up he's should be benched, regardless of where he was drafted. He's talented so he'll probably figure it out. But you can't just leave him out there to blow assignments.
As I said they probably made his assignment clear and thus the benching. So we're 5 games into the season and wondering what the heck they are or are not teaching him during practice. But the benching of a speed rusher against a pass-happy Chargers team seems kind of nuts to me. If they are teaching him assignments and freaking up on Sundays, then I agree, to the bench and watch for quite a while. The more I think about it perhaps the Donks should be in a 3-4 given the talent level of their backers.
^ They were throwing screens at him and running at him with Matthews. His aggressiveness hurt them on a couple key drives.
said this since before he flew up the draft boards....situational pass rusher at best for a few years, having him and doom on the field is insane rush but insanely poor run defense too
