ESPN’s Chris Mortenson is reporting that Andy Reid and the Eagles front office are considering bringing in a “consultantâ€￾ to review the Eagles defense during the bye two weeks from now but he had no word on who it might be. If true, this does show some desperation on the Eagles part, which is absolutely a good thing. They should be desperate and inventing ways to try and fix this disaster. Today Reid did give defensive coordinator Juan Castillo a vote of confidence, but clearly that level of confidence doesn’t seem to be terribly high. The Eagles defense currently ranks 27th in the league in points allowed.

  3. I remember the Redskins bringing in an offensive consultant for Jim Zorn in 2008..........

That was the beginning of the end for Zorn.......

I wonder if they will bring in Jeff Fisher to be the Defensive Consultant. He may be a good HC for the Eagles, except that him and VY won't be able to co-exist.

Not sure the Eagles would bring in a "head coach" prospect as a consultant. Might make Big Red feel threatened...lol.

might be a good idea though. Put Reid on notice that he needs to get to winning or they have his replacement there already. He has made some head scratching decisions. He needs to bring in an expert in that field. Fisher would make sense but the Young thing is a sticking point.

And people forget that Joe Banner is a lame duck GM. Reid still calls the shots in Philly. Reid is going to let the season play itself out and hope he gets himself in a position to take Andrew Luck. :)

If they're that bad would Reid keep his job?

I believe so. 3 losing seasons in his tenure? I think he'll get another year to make sure this one wasn't a fluke. Look at his track record. In 1999 which was his first year he went 5-11. The following year he went 11-5 and kept the team in double digit wins until 2005 when he went 6-10. Followed that with 8-8, 9-6, then 11-5 and 10-6 last year. If the team finishes with less than 5 wins this season he MAY be fired but I honestly see this team finishing at 8-8 and Reid getting another season at the helm.

Eagles have too much talent. Once they gel, which should be soon, they will start winning.

Then they will fire reidtard anyways

This isn't about gelling though. It's about poor fundamentals, sloppy and careless handling of the ball, and a defensive scheme that is not fit for the personnel we have.

We can't tackle. We fumble. QB tries to be a hero every play instead of making the smart play. We leave three-yard gaps between D-linemen and expect our undersized linebackers to make plays against the run. We play one of the best cornerbacks in the league in zone coverage when that is nowhere near his specialty.

Trust me, I wish it were only a matter of gelling.

Spot on here. Juan Castillo is our biggest weakness right now. He is using the wrong defense period. The wide 9 is great but only with good LB's. Not great or elite LB's but GOOD ones. Just freaking sign Lofa Tatupu dammit!!
