The San Francisco 49ers announced that inside linebacker Patrick Willis has been named the NFC's Defensive Player of the Week for Week 5. Willis had 12 tackles and a fumble recovery in the team's 48-3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. For the season, the four-time Pro Bowler has a team-high 40 tackles with four passes defensed, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Thanks to Willis and fellow inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman, the 49ers are tied for the fourth-best run defense in the NFL, allowing just 76.4 yards per game. Source: Mac's Football Blog
