Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett took his funny pills Thursday before addressing the media. The topic of what constitutes an illegal hit was broached. Haslett took an interesting approach on the controversial penalty specifically when a receiver is running a crossing route. “I’d fine the quarterback for a bad throw,†he quipped. There are a lot of variables that go into the penalty and who should ultimately shoulder the blame. “It’s all subjective,†Haslett admitted. “Obviously the league has done a great job in minimizing and trying to help player safety.†The coordinator said he instructs his players to still “take their shots,†but to keep their head up and not drove the opponent into the ground.

I would say he was kidding... "Took his funny pills" and "quipped" led me to believe he was just messing around.
