As the NFL trading deadline looms Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, the Raiders are attempting to fill a black hole at the NFL’s most critical position by approaching Cincinnati about quarterback Carson Palmer according to Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports. According to a source familiar with the team’s thinking, the Raiders were “trying hardâ€￾ to make a deal for Palmer, although the source highly doubted that Cincinnati owner Mike Brown would deal Palmer. Oakland quarterback Jason Campbell left the game with a broken collarbone and could miss the remainder of the season. That leaves the Raiders as a playoff competitor with a shaky quarterback situation. Kyle Boller is the starter and Terrelle Pryor, who just became eligible last week after a five-game suspension, is the backup.

Not really. Why would Brown trade Palmer at this point? The Bengals are having success right now and there's no need to unload him now for questionable picks when he could wait until after the season or until the 2012 draft and get picks that he actually knows what he is getting.

Your's is the only argument that makes even the slightest bit of sense. However it is slightly flawed, The game these two parties (carson & the bengals) have been playing with one another is was stupid from the beginning. Childish & petty on both parties. The Bengals had no way of knowing they would be playing descent this season... Unproven is unproven. Why not get something for Palmer before the season started. Some veteran lineman and a 2nd and late round draft pick (was reportedly on the table).

And now that the Bengals are doing well why keep Palmer... He's not really worth a 1st rounder with his age and injuries... But if you can get a 1st for him, why not do it. Other than the fact the Bengals have had the 2nd worst draft classes only to the Raiders.

Personally, I think the only person who could have talked Mr Brown into this trade, died a week ago.

This would be huge for Raiders, I'm one of the people who believes Palmer still has alot in the tank.

I'm surprised that Dan Snyder hasn't waved some cash in front of Mike Brown to bring Palmer to the Redskins. Maybe we can send Grossman to the Raiders, instead.

I'm with you on that. I think Palmer has a lot to give to a team. It's just a matter of him being able to get to a team that wants to help him succeed.

Gee thanks. I'd sure love Grossman :icon_rolleyes: , I'd rather just use Boller than have Grossman on this team. Frankly I'd rather just use Boller instead of Palmer for this year. Way too risky to bring in a QB who has been away from the league for almost a year.

Garrand, Palmer. Nothing but crap out there at QB.

Raiders are better off with Boller who at least has been in the system.

It will take Garrand a few weeks to figure out the system because he can take the field and play like crap

I am 100% serious when I say I would rather take Jeff George then Garrand or Palmer at this point

The Bengals don't need to trade him now...unless the offer is more than they think they could ever get. They eventually traded Ocho-Cinco after even more of a cat and mouse game. Yes, they should've traded him and they still should. My point is there is no reason to be in a hurry and they're better off knowing what they are getting then having an "idea" of what they may be getting.

But you could make a case that Palmers value is as high as it can be right now...

Are you serious? Garrard is one of the more efficient and least error-prone QBs around right now. He's not flashy by any means but he made plays when his best WR was a 5'8 guy by the name of Mike Thomas. Dude isn't Top-tier by any means but to say that you would take Kyle Boller over him is ridiculous.

You put Garrard on any team other than Jacksonville and he takes them to the playoffs, he was stuck on a franchise going nowhere with a pathetic excuse for a coach and owner.

this wouldn't make any sense if the story about campbell being back in 6 weeks is true. by the time palmer could be as effective as boller, it would be time for campbell to come back.

Thats alot of koolaid on a guy thats had one really good season on a team with a brickhouse running game. He's been mediocre other then 2007. Why bring in a mediocre QB thats going to take time to learn the system
