An attorney representing the Dodgers and owner Frank McCourt filed a civil complaint against the two men charged in the Opening Day beating of San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow in Los Angeles Superior Court last week, arguing that they should be held liable for the attack, not McCourt, the team or other parties named in the suit filed by Stow's family in May. "One of the things the jury will be asked to do is to determine what percentage of fault various individuals have for this event," McCourt's attorney Jerome Jackson told ESPNLosAngeles.com.

See what I did with the title there. But yeah, onto the story. This isn't going to end well for McCourt. Stow MAY deserve a little of the blame for wearing a Giants jersey to that dump of a stadium/franchise but it's McCourt's responsibility to provide security in the parking lot, especially when this is a historically violent rivalry. Frank McCourt is a GIANT douche bag and needs to just own up to this crap and settle out of court and start to rehab his image a bit.

Uhhhh no. The Title is Misleading at best. You should know better the that as a mod.

Tell me I can't wear my teams jersey to an away game and I tell you where to shove your head. Ridiculous though no doubt.

Sorry I had to throw some of the "liberal media" in there. But if you read the article they basically say he was asking for it. Either way, BULL CRAP and McCourt should be drawn and quartered.

Stow deserves part of the blame? Really? I think mush said it best. Tell me I can't wear my favorite team's jersey to an away game, I beg ANYONE.

Didn't the two men beat the crap out of Stow because he was wearing a Giants jersey? Stow was walking through the parking lot, minding his own business and this crap happens. Stow deserves 0% of the blame.

Really...the Dodgers are taking that route? If Stowe dumped beer on the guys head, he didn't deserve that kind of near death beating...

Exactly. He was just a fan at a game. There's talks that in the stands he was goading some Dodgers fans but isn't that what fans do? They talk crap to each other? Honestly, that's part of the charm of a ball game. You should be able to have fun there and talk smack with other fans around you and at the end of the day it's a GAME THAT YOU HAVE NO PART IN! I don't get some sort of bonus if the Mets win the World Series. I'm JUST a fan that likes my team. Frank McCourt deserves to get AIDS.

No amount of security could of prevented this. Security can't be everywhere at once and drunk belligerent morons filled with liquid courage and stupidity would of done this regardless. Though I feel for the guy and his family I think they're just trying to make a quick buck off this unfortunate incident. Back to McCourt, if there was a such thing as enough security then half of the violence we face in today's world wouldn't exist.

Let's not compare a baseball stadium where there's no security after a game to the world's issues. I know you're an LA fan and wonder if you've ever been to their park? The ravine is essentially black after games with crapty lighting and there is ZERO police or security presence. Wasn't he also jumped RIGHT outside the stadium where you'd expect a few people? One thing I always loved about Shea was I always felt 100% safe with the NYPD directing traffic and security patrolling the lot for at least an hour after the games over. The Dodgers didn't have CRAP out there.

I'm not saying that "security" would solve world issues. I'm simply saying that this would of happened no matter how much security there was. Drunk morons don't think about consequences. This has nothing to do with me being an LA fan. How does that even factor into what I said? My statement was based on logic and comment sense. Even if there was a security guard(s) in the vicinity they probably would of been jumped too. People (especially drunken idiots) have NO regard for safety or rules. So as I said before, though I feel for Stow I think his family is using him and this unfortunate/ignorant act of violence to get paid.

I was just wondering if you had ever been to Chavez Ravine before. Not saying that it affected your judgement into the situation. If you have security in place to help shuffle people through, you can stop this. This doesn't happen at other stadiums why? Because there's a security presence. If this happened WAY out in the parking lot around no one, it couldn't have been prevented. But it happened right in front of the stadium and these heckers got away. If you have security they lock that crap down and these guys a)don't get away and b)may have been able to stop it before Stow got annihilated. If a dude catches a punch, it happens. When a dude is put in a COMA it's something COMPLETELY different. I'm not saying all of baseball needs better security, just the Dodgers. It's well documented that this stadium has had security issues for quite some time. Remember this? Giant fan stabbed at Dodger Stadium The issue is this is a joke of an organization and until this year was the only team in the majors that didn't regulate alcohol sales. They sold beer up until the game was over and even beyond. But a bit of a presence in the parking lot post game and better lighting might not "solve" this, but it'll help to curb some of it. A fight is one thing. A beating is something completely different.

1st off i disagree the stow's are loooking to make a bick off this. do any of us know the mounting mdeicals bills ? the lingering issues this guy may have after its all said and done ? i understand most, including myself are skeptical when it comes to lawsuits and for good reason. i just dont think this is one of those situations where its warranted.

2nd - an increased security presence can absolutelty help stop problems like this. the eagles have at least tripled their security at games both outside and inside of the stadium. christ you cant even curse now without somebody in a yellow jacket coming up and telling you to be quiet.

it really all comes down to the indiviuals though. philly surely has had its share of douchebags as have other fanbases but wtf is wrong with people when this kind of crap happens ?
