Deion Sanders Says Cowboys Have Become Content With Just Trying To Make Playoffs

  1. Deion Sanders has not been one to shy away from being critical against his former team lately, and he showed that again by taking a shot at Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones Wednesday night. Sanders is convinced that the Cowboys have become content with just trying to make the playoffs and no longer enter the season with Super Bowl dreams, and it starts with the owner, who gives Cowboys fans a false sense of hope every season. "You got to give your hats off to Jerry Jones," Sanders said during the NFL Network's "No Huddle" show. "He creates this persona, this image that this team has a chance. They're going to win it all every year. "And that says a lot from the ownership position. But I don't think they think about, 'Hey, we're going to the Super Bowl.' It's not like that. 'We just got to get in the playoffs and anything can happen.' So the expectations has lessened." Sanders played in Dallas during a time when the fan base truely thought it was "Super Bowl or Bust." He joined the Cowboys in 1995 when Jones signed him to a seven-year, $35 million dollar deal in hopes of extending Dallas' Super Bowl window a few more years, which they did that first season, winning their third championship in four seasons, but his backhanded compliment of Jones shows that he has even lost faith in the Cowboys front office.
