Another friendly. Another 1-0 loss. The U.S. men's national team was unable to score for the fourth time in six games under new head coach Jurgen Klinsmann, and as a result fell, 1-0, to France at Stade de France on Friday. The defeat dropped the U.S. team to 1-4-1 under Klinsmann. Loic Remy scored the game's only goal minutes after entering in the second half, but the result could have been worse for the Americans if not for several quality saves from Tim Howard. Another loss with no passion. These guys seem disinterested when they play the game. And the formation is a defensive formation. We need to run a 4-4-2 and have 2 strikers. Jozy Altidore had some amazing runs but they were all 1 on 2 or 3. Clint Dempsey seemed to play like crap despite some decent looks and being hit HARD numerous times. Jermaine Jones was actually missed quite a bit on the field IMO and this line up is somewhat baffling to me. I don't care about wins and loses at this point and the fact that we've lost all games by 1-0 is pretty good but let's be honest, this team doesn't look better from game to game. They just look stale and uninterested.
Adam, we clearly can't run with a 1 striker offense though. We need 2 options up top. Push Dempsey forward then. There were 2 or 3 occasions that Jozy was up high with the ball and with 2 or 3 french dudes around him and he can't finish those. Needs someone to drop it off to. 4-4-2 is the US's ONLY option to actually win games with the talent we have. Plus we need some better decisions on Jurgens behalf getting some better players in like George John and Omar Gonzalez.
I just think we need to be more creative. No one really uses the 4-4-2 anymore. yeah Klins needs to straighten things out. He has quite a few guys CLEARLY playing out of place.
Today against Slovenia they came out 4-4-2 and created a TON of chances. The backline played like crap but Fabian Johnson showed why Jurgi REALLY wanted him on the squad. 3-2 USMNT with 10 minutes left so we'll see how it ends but it looks REALLY good. And this was without Gooch and Lando on the pitch.
