Texans quarterback Matt Schaub will miss the rest of the season with a Lisfranc injury, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN who cites a league source. Coach Gary Kubiak said Monday that Schaub was injured on a quarterback sneak coming out of the end zone late in the second quarter of Houston's 37-9 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday. Schaub stayed in the game, but threw only three passes. Kubiak said the team was bringing in a specialist from Indianapolis to evaluate Schaub, and the quarterback would fly to Charlotte, N.C., later this week to undergo further examination.

Reports down here today were saying he was injured in the 2nd quarter. He played the rest of the game with that? Or did the injury get compounded into the more serious issue as he played?

Man, the AFC South has some great QBs.

Indy: Painter and other guys who don't belong in the NFL
    Jacksonville: Gabbert
    Houston: Leinart
Tennessee: Matt Hasselbeck (best QB in division)

They said on the local news that they are going to re-examine his foot in 2 weeks and he doesn't need surgery he could make a comeback.

  14. I feel bad for Houston fans..a season where they don't have to worry about Manning for a whole season and then they lose Shaub to a injury for the whole season..man that blows!!

So Andre is about to come back and they lose their QB. Sucks to be the Texans. lol. Hopefully Leinart can hold them together. Just throw it up to Johnson.

man, the texans are snake bit. their division is easy enough that they can still win it with Leinart but winning any playoff games is probably not possible now.

Still think they can still compete with Leinart.

they can compete, no question, and will still win their division. However, going from Schaub to Leinart is a significant drop-off and will prevent them from going far in the playoffs.

and it's really disappointing to me as a neutral fan. i was looking forward to a 'new' team (can't root for the Jets) having a legit shot in the AFC this year other than the standard Pats/Steelers/Colts that we have been 'stuck' with for the past 8 Super Bowls. Now it's pretty much back to the Pats or Steelers this year with the Ravens and Jets being the 'new' teams that could mix it up in the AFC.

Guess I'll root for the Ravens.
