DeSean Jackson Says Other Eagle Players Weren't Deactivated For Missing Meetings

In an interview with Michael Irvin of NFL Network, DeSean Jackson said he showed up about 20 minutes late for an 8:30 a.m. special-teams meeting Saturday because his alarm clock didn't go off. Initially, receivers coach David Culley told DeSean that he probably wouldn't start as punishment. But that evolved into Reid telling DeSean that he should think about things and he was suspended for Sunday's game. Jackson did take full responsibility as a man for being late and admitted it had happened once before since he's been with the Eagles, but it wasn't a chronic issue. DeSean also said he'd seen other players miss or be late for meetings and they still played the following Sunday.

at least the cards game proved djax has no effect on how teams defend the eagles and that steve smith was a wise investment to cover his eventual departure. a02:

why do i say that ? because while i think he is handling this issue incorrectly (especially pointing fingers at oother players, i think the eagles are even more to blame. after hearing banners comments (general and cryptic of course) about how they could've re-signed a player to a big deal if they choose to. unless i see evidence to the contrary i think the eagles are dropping the ball here.

also, why the high level of angst againt jackson from so many ? because he doesnt have the long td's ? the 20+ yards per catch average ? cause his other numbers arent that far off ? i dont see the same angst for chris johnson who by far made himself more of a distraction then jackson has and is underperforming AFTER he got his big money. jackson hasnt gotten the big contract and has been underpaid for three years.

I have the same disgust for CJ too, in fact I would laugh if the butthole broke a leg.

 

I do believe that we may have been watching different games because Mr Smith dropped a couple of easy catches and also pussed out when Washington was bearing down on him and missed a first down. Steve Smith is NOT the answer!

Bolster the defense or give someone with a few question marks a brand spanking new contract? Hmm. I think that I'm content with Aso and Babin over Jackson. And he can still be an Eagle next year as I bet the Eagles will franchise him until they can free up the money, maybe. Signing Vince Young to a 5 million dollar contract is a total head scratcher but hey, they felt that they needed insurance for Vick. And so it's proven to be.

MJ said it best. I don't care if it's Chris Johnson, Darrelle Revis or DeSean Jackson. You're still making half a million dollars to work half the year. Do you work hard? Yes. Is it dangerous? Yes. Did anyone force you to do it? No. I mean I'm sure he could have been a great waiter or fry cook but come on now. Play your contract and have faith that you'll get paid more than your worth. And the fact that he's basically said heck you to Eagles fans and mailed in this season has something to do with it too. I don't care how much charity he does or how many appearances he makes. Do your job. Don't complain.

question marks ? most players have question marks. jackson is a vital part of this offense weather he is burning defenses for 45yrd touchdowns or just drawing coverage to him and openning things up for the other receivers which he is still doing bigtime. there's a reason the middle of the field wasnt open against the cards. jackson wasnt in the game to pull the safety into deep coverage.

also, the eagles are $6mil under the cap last i checked, add steve smith's money to that figure and i bet you they couldve signed jackson.

this "get a real job" mentality is so tired and played out and this mailed in season comment is total crap. it's his fault that the opposing defenses have locked him down from the big plays and reid hasnt made the adjustments ? have you even looked at his stats and compared them to his career averages ? my guess is no considering the mailed it in comment.

actually steve smith is a rodhead too, and he did get paid appropriately, and has kind of demanded a trade before (then his bff Cam came to town), and comparing steve smith to deseasn jackson is so wrong...steve smith is built like a tank and is probably around 190, jackson is a twig.
