For the first seven games of their season, the Miami Dolphins were firmly among the leaders in the "Suck for Luck" campaign to draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck in the April draft. But now that two straight wins have seemingly taken the Dolphins out of the chase for Luck, could incumbent fill-in Matt Moore show the team enough the rest of the way to be the starter for not only the rest of this season, but next year as well. "I told you his strength was the guy can move the team," Dolphins coach Tony Sparano told the Palm Beach Post, "and he moves the team." Moore was mostly a backup in Carolina and came to the Dolphins this year originally as Chad Henne's backup. And while it isn't the conventional way to find a quarterback, there are notable examples of quarterbacks who have bounced around the league, only to find success after multiple stops. Rich Gannon, Jim Plunkett and Tommy Maddox come to mind, as well as more recently Buffalo's Ryan Fitzpatrick, whom the Dolphins face Sunday, "I remember people saying, 'He's never going to be a guy that can really throw the football.' It's like, really? Put me in a system that makes sense and let me see what I can do, and that's a challenge for guys like Matt Moore," said Gannon, who became a star late in his career with Oakland. Exactly, I don't know if Moore can be more than a stop gap, but he can start for a year maybe two that way who ever they draft will have time to learn like with Palmer or Rodgers.
Moore's not a bad guy to have around...even now, he goes out and does his job knowing that every team that he's been on us looking for the "next guy."
