Appearing on NFL Network's Around the League segment Monday, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune said it would require a "miracle turnaround" for Norv Turner to stay on as the Chargers head coach in 2012. The Chargers have dropped five straight games after a 4-1 start and are in last place in the AFC West. ESPN NFL analyst Jerry Rice also blamed Turner for the Chargers' collapse this season on SportsCenter Monday. "Norv Turner is one of those coaches that just can’t you over the hump," Rice said. “I played under this guy." The Chargers appear headed to missing the playoffs for a second-straight season. Turner like Wade Phillips should never have another chance to be head coaches. They should stick to being coordinators. Turners been riding the talent Marty created, not any he has produced. A.J. Smith should go along with him for hiring him and firing Marty. Marty might not get you to the mountain top but he will get you to the top rim at least. Turner has never been a winner any place he has been head coach.
and if jerry rice is saying bad things about you, you suck ................. i'm also hearing that this could be a complete house cleaning which will include a.j. smith finally wearing out his welcome there
My hunch is, he will be in Dallas next year as the OC. Turner and Garrett are really close and have the same offensive philosophy.
if cowher ever wants to return, this might be his best chance. he's wanting full control, a qb, and warm weather. if the chargers fire smith with norm, everything cowher asked for is there.
lol martyball jr taking martyballs old job....CLBUTTIC bill cowher wont "dominate" anything, most overrated coaching name on the market aside from maybe gruden
at this point, id say go the 49ers route and get the hottest coach in the college ranks and hope it pans out, im sick and tired of watching mediocre football. its also time for AJ Smith to get the ax, he has gotten so full of himself with his draft selections (always looking for the steals/projects), playing hardball with our stars (Gates, Jackson, Tomlinson, countless others), and looking for the cheaper option in FA instead of going with established players who can come in and produce right away.
um, i think they've made it clear that norv and smith are staying .......... you may need to change teams if you're that sick and tired of it.
