According to an incident report obtained by the South Florida Times, Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall was handcuffed and briefly detained by Broward Sheriff's Office deputies early on Nov. 14 after he was accused of trying to avoid paying a $142 taxi fare. According to the report, a taxi driver picked Marshall up from Karlos Dansby's birthday party at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach and proceeded to take him first to Miami International Airport and then Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Once there, Marshall allegedly got out of the cab and said he needed to use the restroom, but jumped into another taxi while the first cab driver demanded payment. The first driver told the second driver that Marshall had refused payment, and the second driver took Marshall to Port Everglades instead of his home in Southwest Ranches. Law enforcement briefly detained Marshall at Port Everglades before he settled his bill with both taxi drivers. "Completely innocent," his agent, Kennard McGuire, said in an email to South Florida Times. "It was a communication issue, more of a language barrier, in not understanding Mr. Marshall's destination. (He) was simply getting someone to help translate."
