Colts QB Peyton Manning got encouraging news after going for a scheduled checkup on his neck Wednesday. Manning's doctor said an X-ray and CT exam of the surgical area showed the fusion performed in September has achieved firm fixation. While the checkup was positive, there is still no timetable for Manning's return to the practice field. "Peyton will now be allowed to increase the intensity and breadth of his workouts as tolerated," Dr. Robert Watkins said. "There remains every indication his recovery will continue." Watkins went on to comment on Peyton Manning's rehab: "[Manning] is working hard on a rehabilitation program outlined in conjunction with myself,[team rehab specialist] Erin Barill and Peyton. His response to this plan in the future will dictate his return date.†Watkins said there is no timetable for Manning's return to practice: "There remains every indication that his recovery will continue. There still is no timetable for Peyton’s return to practice, which is one of many steps in his expected return to game action." Source: CBS Sports
For his own health I hope he doesn't come back this season. Any fusion surgery is not something to rush back from. And if hes smart he will call it a day and retire.
