Penalties and personal fouls continue to plague the Lions. Nate Burleson was flagged four times, three times for offensive pass interference. Titus Young, Stefan Logan and Brandon Pettigrew all took personal foul penalties. The Lions were flagged 11 times for 107 yards and after the game, Lions head coach Jim Schwartz was critical of the team's mistakes in the loss to the Saints: "We lost to the Saints, but we beat ourselves (Sunday). Our offense continually got derailed by penalties, both before the snap, after the whistle and during the snap. It was the only thing that took us out of scoring." Schwartz says the team needs need to act like they're in playoff hunt. "We were at a point last year where we were pretending we were in a playoff run. Well guess what? We're in one now. We need to act accordingly. And by that we have to be a team that doesn't beat ourselves. We have talent. We have good coaching. We cannot afford to be selfish (or) put the team at risk of taking points off the board." Source: CBS Sports
Ok Schwartz, tell your team that instead of the media. All this lack of disapline your team has falls on YOUR shoulders.
Yet he seems to have no problem with all of Suh's penalties. Maybe they were just following his lead.
Maybe he should of thought of blasting them some time before the end of week 13. You can't try to play the tough guy role with your team now.
