Coach Lovie Smith put to rest all rumors about the Chicago Bears' interest in Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb—and any other quarterback—on Monday. Come hell or high water, the team will stick with the quarterbacks it has on hand. "We’re not looking on the outside," Smith said at his Monday news conference. "We’re not having a quarterback tryout or anything like that. These are our guys and we’re all going to get better.†A Monday report suggested Favre would listen to Bears inquiries, but that talk doesn't intrigue Smith. The Bears consider it too difficult to bring in another quarterback at this stage to replace struggling fill-in starter Caleb Hanie and expect that player to know the offense well enough to run it. So far they haven't considered recently acquired backup Josh McCown a possibility to replace Hanie. Source: Sporting News
Yea when Forte went down so did any hope they had. They ran that dude into the ground and now they're paying for it. I'm a little happy because of how they've been treating his contract situation, because they kind of deserve it. I feel bad for him though. I wish the media dismissed these bullcrap rumors as easily as the rest of us. Life would be a lot more enjoyable.
