Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Cam Newton has been named the NFC's Offensive Players of the Week, the team announced on Tuesday. Newton completed 12-of-21 pass attempts for 204 yards and a touchdown, adding 54 yards and a career-high three rushing touchdowns, setting the NFL single-season record for touchdowns in a season with 13. The first overall pick out of Auburn also had a 27-yard reception in the Panthers' 38-19 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. This the first NFC Offensive Player of the Week award for Newton, who was named the NFL's Rookie of the Month for September. Source: Mac's Football Blog
