Browns coach Pat Shurmur strongly defended his team's handling of Colt McCoy after the quarterback sustained a concussion during Thursday night's loss to the Steelers. Scrambling from pressure, McCoy was laid out by a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit from Steelers linebacker James Harrison late in the fourth quarter. McCoy left the game for just two plays but returned after being examined and cleared by the Browns' medical staff, which Shurmur said followed the NFL's exacting guidelines on concussions. McCoy didn't begin showing symptoms of a concussion until after the game, Shurmur said. “If he had shown symptoms of the concussion I wouldn't have put him back in the game,†Shurmur said. “That was a tough, physical game. Everybody got knocked around. If he had the symptoms he wouldn't have gone back in — absolutely not.†Source: Chicago Tribune
He also said the medical team wouldn't have let him put him back in, so it would have been out of his hands. Using multiple excuses to see which one sticks means you hecked up.
True, Clevelands defense has been intense. Let me also say, the medical staff in Cleveland has been completely useless for years
I sincerely doubt that the team had time to check him for a concussion in the time span of two plays. Was it Cleveland that had all the problems with people getting infections from the locker room that they tried to hush up a few years ago? or was that Cincinnati? I forget the actual name of the infections. If it was them, the NFL needs to get involved with the teams medical staff.
There's no way they properly assessed his "concussion." no way. And yes...it was Cleveland that had the mrsa running wild...lol. Really not that funny...but it is.
