Vikings rookie quarterback Christian Ponder was pulled in the third quarter of today's game against the Lions in favor of Joe Webb. Ponder struggled completing 11 of 20 passes for 115 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. The Vikings announced it was a coaches' decision to remove Ponder, who remained on the sideline. He has been suffering from a hip-pointer injury and didn't practice until Friday.

Joe Webb may be...lol Where's AtlantaBlazer when you need him?

Vikings got robbed with a non-face mask call at the end of that game too...

eh, i don't know if this necessarily means they are giving up on ponder. guy was hurt and maybe they thought he was too hurt to play after his poor performance.

He was getting killed. There was a pretty big hit after his final interception, which I think is as much of the reason he was benched as anything. Charlie Johnson and Phil Loadholt are the worst pass protecting tackle combination in the league.

Vikings are the worst in the league in A LOT of areas and positions, and I agree, if Joe could throw....aww man.

Joe Webb looks like the future, 100 yards in less than 4 quarters and damn he was a yard short of winning that game.

I've been calling for Webb since the beginning....

I don't think Webb looks like the future, 3.7 yards per attempt doesn't get you anywhere. Lots of passes way off the mark, has poor touch. But wow, he is probably the sneakiest scrambler I've ever seen, so many plays where he should be sacked, and basically just twitches his shoulders, and he's free. I wouldn't mind seeing about 5 snaps of him a game, forget the silly designed runs from earlier in the year, put him in the shot gun, send Harvin deep, let him run when the defense breaks down. Should work for a couple games.

I think one of those was for 65 on the TD run.

Crappy video, but still better than watching the highlight on NFL's buggy site.
