Chiefs Fire Head Coach Todd Haley

The Kansas City Chiefs announced that head coach Todd Haley has been relieved of his duties. "This was a difficult decision but one that we feel is best for the future of the Chiefs," Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said in a statement released by the club on Monday. "Although there have been bright spots at different points this season, we have not made meaningful progress and we felt that it was necessary to make a change. We appreciate Todd’s contributions during his time with the club, and we wish him well in the future." Under Haley, whose contract runs through the 2012 season, the Chiefs were 19-26 in the regular season and 0-1 in the post-season, a 30-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the 2010 Wild Card Playoffs round after winning the AFC West last season. No interim head coach has been been announced.

I think he was running the offense. He was just terrible at it. Kind of easy when you have Kurt Warner as your QB.

I would kind of be suprised if they went after McDaniels after the mess he left in Denver and a crapty year in St Louis.

 

I have heard that our interim HC will be Romeo Crennel...and the Chiefs have been talking to McDaniels, which is beyond stupid...he sucked as a HC in Denver and certainly won't make anything better here. :icon_evil:

McDaniel is getting press because he's Cassel and Pioli's guy. 1st thing I'd do is trade off Cassell for pics if you can and maybe Dbowe. D Bowe is the biggest cat playing WR right now... Sure he'll make 1 or 2 crazy butt amazing catches a year, but when it comes down to putting it on the line and make the catch the will win a game, you can't count on him....

Who ever the new coach is next year, he should look like a genius as KC is broken with 4 of their best players on IR this year.

 

Gotta be more to it than that.

 

He's made plenty of catches that tied games though. i.e vs Cowboys and your Raiders in 09.

But yes, get rid of Cassel, please.

Still, if the Chiefs thing Josh McDaniels will reverse their fortunes then they've got another thing coming. His alleged passer friendly offense has been a complete flop for us, not forgetting the state he left Denver in.

 

I totally agree with you....and what people seem to be overlooking is....Haley is a good HC....much better than McDummy....Haley never wanted Cassel as our starting QB, that was Pioli...and as long as Pioli is the GM, then Cassel is gonna be the starting QB, when in reality, he's a backup QB at best...Haley seems to be getting blamed here for decisions that he never made or had any hand in making. Pioli and Haley never got along, and Pioli saw his chance to give Haley the axe and took it...and quite honestly, if Pioli hires McDummy, then he should be the next one to get the axe....:icon_evil:

 

Really? :icon_rolleyes: Pioli always wanted McDummy as the HC because he was the OC of the Patriots when Pioli was there....
