The Miami Dolphins have fired head coach Tony Sparano, Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports. Michael Lombardi of the NFL Network reports that assistant head coach/secondary coach Todd Bowles will take over as interim head coach. Hired in 2008, Sparano led the Dolphins to an 11-5 record and first place finish in the AFC East. The Dolphins lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card Playoff game and have gone just 15-27 over the last three seasons, including a 4-9 mark in 2011 that has assured the Dolphins over a third straight losing season. On Sunday night, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported that general manager Jeff Ireland's job was safe, but that Sparano, who signed a contract extension last January, would not be back in 2012. Gotta feel for Sparano, he knew he was going to be a lame duck coach this year and despite the 0-7 start he kept going through and made them look pretty good the past few weeks.
Lol...was thinking the same. Monkey see. Monkey do. Earlier in the season this wouldn't surprise me. After the Dolphins little win streak and seeing the players play for him recently, it surprises me just a little raft they let him go now...
Coach takes the owners rap for screwing up the season, no good comes from the higher up's effectively cutting the guys nuts off.
