The rumor mill will start churning after Todd Haley's ouster in Kansas City, at this time, most of the speculation centers on connect-the-dot coaches The two names at the top of the list right now are Kirk Frerentz from Iowa and St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, a former Patriots offensive coordinator who has worked with Matt Cassel and under general manager Scott Pioli. It's hard to believe that McDaniels would get a real hard look given his lack of success in St. Louis but his name is still out there as a potential candidate. Kirk Frerentz has turned down a number of NFL jobs before but has ties to Pioli too, if he is ready to make the jump to the pros, this could be his opportunity. Another possibility could be interim head coach Romeo Crennel, again, he has worked with Pioli in New England and much could depend upon how the Chiefs respond to Crennel during the final three game and if he is interested in becoming a head coach. I wouldn't be too mad about that. For me to be alright with Ferentz, Stanzi better start the rest of the season to prove that he can be the franchise guy. Cause if Ferentz is hired, there is no way he'll want any QB other than Stanzi.
i cant beleive mcdaniels is getting HC consideration at all after the way he ran denver into the ground. Drafting tebow in the first draft ayers and moreno in the first trading a first for alphonso smith, then trading alphonso smith for a 3rd TE trading scheffler to the lions trading cutler to the bears trading marshall to the dolphins jeez
notice how all of the things you listed were personnel moves. the logic with mcdaniels coming to k.c. would be that Pioli would take care of personnel and mcdaniels would just coach. Now, if we want to debate how good/bad of a coach mcdaniels is, that's definitely something to also question. I don't think even Pioli could figure out a way to 'sell' mcdaniels as an hc but i could see him bringing him in as an o.c.
He made a lot of weird moves that were stupid. BTW whats with the love for the Iowa coach? I think he is a decent coach, but nothing special. I've watched the big ten for years. He beat state last year but i don't think he is a Harbaugh or a Carroll or a Saban by any means.
apparently ferentz and pioli are good friends and i heard an interview with a sports writer that covers Iowa and he says it's a well know fact around the University that Ferentz has been approached by NFL teams in the past about their HC positions. The nfl sees something in him they like i guess.
