Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli spoke quietly and carefully. He had just fired coach Todd Haley after a miserable 5-8 start, leaving the Chiefs' GM to explain the organization's failures. Pioli pointed his finger right at himself. "We have a locker room that has talent," Pioli said. "We also have a good makeup of character in that locker room, but it's abundantly clear that we're not in a spot we need to be with our record where it is and our team in a position it is. I need to do a better job." After winning the division title last year, devastating injuries and discouraging losses have quickly turned the environment surrounding the team toxic. The Chiefs' 37-10 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday culminated in the decision to fire Haley, once a rising star in the NFL, and the appointment of defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel as interim coach for the final three games of the regular season. "I do believe in the players we have here," Pioli said. "We need to continue to improve this roster and improve the depth of this football team."

Hard to believe a few years ago I wanted him to come in to the Lions...but then again I wanted anyone but Millen or any of his puppets running the Lions. Now I'm glad with what we have..

People called me stupid and a hater when I said Pioli was a product of Belichick more than the other way around. Guess I was correct again.

Are you for real? You're team is unravelling right before your eyes. The Chiefs lost their starting QB and had to rely on Palko. What is the Lions record in games without Stafford?

I'm dead serious, I am happy having Schwartz and look at the Cheifs. They lost there HC are bringing in a terrible HC in McStupid. They traded for QB from a Patriots system and traded too much for him, plus gave him a ridiculous contract. The Lions have 2 Decent QB's after Stafford, and they won like 4 games at the end of the season with the 3rd stringer. The Lions are were most of us thought they would be. Close to a .500 team, they need some new lineman, some more depth at DB and saftey. We need a running game, that would help not throwing the ball all game...

Yeah they have some penalty problems but this is a team that hasn't been in a playoff game since 1999, they haven't been relevant since Barry Sanders. so yeah, I'm good with what we got, sure we probably won't get into the playoffs or go very far but it's better then 0-16. 2-14 like we are used to. Give these guys another draft, another FA and I think we will be pretty damn good.

I don't think Pioli is a product of Bellichick. I simply don't believe in the "Patriot way", period. Belichick hasn't done squat for quite awhile, despite making the playoffs numerous times due to Tom Brady. The only reason Pioli has failed is because he refuses to go against is beloved "Patriot way". He's scared of taking risks by bringing in players he's familiar with, even if they aren't very good. (i.e. Cassel)

On another note, I heard that McDaniels has about a 0% chance of becoming the next HC, but there is a good chance he could become OC. I'll change how I think about Pioli completely if he would just draft a franchise QB.
