Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post reports that he was told this week by an in-the-know source with intimate knowledge of the San Diego sports scene that Bill Cowher already had “an interview’’ with high-ranking people inside the Chargers organization who were gauging his interest and that he expressed his interest in the job should Norv Turner be fired. Despite all of their talent and regular-season prowess, Chargers fans have been waiting for Turner to be fired for years because of his lack of postseason success. This season, with the Chargers struggling to make it into the playoffs (and a long shot to do so with two games remaining), the talk from unhappy fans in San Diego has grown louder.

i think this would be surprising. most of us had come to the conclusion that cowher was comfortable in his analyst role. however, if there was going to be a job that was perfect for cowher, it would probably be this one.

    1) franchise QB
    2) full control if they fire both turner and smith
    3) warm weather
    4) talent on the roster

I'd like to see Cowher in the NFL again, and the Chargers are a perfect fit.

I want to see Cowher in the NFL again, but I don't believe that he interviewed with the Chargers. When it came up that Bill Cowher was interviewing with other teams while doing broadcasting, he made it clear that he was not and called it "insulting" that people would say it.

    He'd be better than Turner...it's a start I guess...
