A 49ers team that sent just two players - Patrick Willis and Justin Smith - to the Pro Bowl a year ago received eight invites for this year's game, including three players, left tackle Joe Staley, safety Dashon Goldson and cornerback Carlos Rogers, who received Pro Bowl honors for the first time. Six players were named starters. Two more -- safety Dashon Goldson and running back Frank Gore -- were named backups. Meanwhile, inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman, outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks, Blake Costanzo (special teams), tight end Vernon Davis, receiver Ted Ginn (returner), center Jonathan Goodwin, left guard Mike Iupati, defensive end Ray McDonald, fullback Bruce Miller and safety Donte Whitner were named alternates. Those players would go if a starter or backup couldn't play because of injuries or because they're playing in the Super Bowl. Source: Sacramento Bee
I am not a Niners fan but I have to give credit where credit is due. This defense has been lights out all year long and flat out fun to watch. Now if they can figure out how to get touchdowns instead of field goals the red zone....
He ain't lyin....but how can Aldon Smith who is up for Rookie of the Year NOT get voted to the Pro Bowl??? BULLCRAP SHENANIGANS....
