The St. Louis Rams have fired head coach Steve Spagnuolo, Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports. Hired in 2009, the Rams were just 10-38 under Spagnuolo losing 14+ games in two of the last three seasons. St. Louis showed improvement in 2010, finishing 7-9 and coming within one game of an NFC West title, but regressed to 2-14 in 2011. Prior to coaching the Rams, Spagnuolo spent two seasons as the New York Giants defensive coordinator and eight seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, as a coaching assistant (1999-2000), defensive backs coach (2001-03) and linebackers coach (2004-06) under the legendary Jim Johnson. Spagnuolo has been rumored as a potential defensive coordinator replacement for Juan Castillo with the Eagles.

and another great coordinator is now available for teams to snag up. teams can really improve their coordinators this year with all of the ones that are available.

He won't be out of work for long. I wish he could come to the Redskins and then they let Haslett go.

Some team is going to need to open the checkbook wide for his services. Think he will a popular attraction for a lot of teams.

I would add the Raiders. They actually seem to be trying to put something together. Thats if they fire Chuck Bresnahan.

Mudd is returning to Philly so no way they fire Castillo. He won't end up in Philly... :(

Possibly find another spot for Castillo?

Maybe but I doubt it. They'd have to demote him which I don't see happening. Smart move is making him Mudds right hand man and bringing Stevie home.

I feel like the Eagles are going to have to make some sort of move with Castillo...

You can't go 2-14 in your third year after going 7-9 in your second. Three offseasons should be enough to get the ship heading in the right direction.

He didn't put the waste of talent on the roster. He didn't sign the terrible contracts.

Eagles Owner Jeffery Lurie is having a PC at 2:30 today. Here's hoping it's to announce Spags is going to be back in Philly. I miss JJ's blitz schemes which Spags actually understands.

We can kiss Washburn's butt goodbye if Spags comes. Kiss his butt and his league-leading 50 sacks he helped create.

This will be the third defense installed in three years.

Kind of. Spags would just basically re-install Jim Johnson's defense though. I think that they can use a type of Wide 9 in the 4-3 defense. It just puts more of an emphasis on the LB's than the Wide 9 does. But I still don't see Spags back here. My money is on Oakland at this point or perhaps even ending up in Tampa.
