Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin announced that offensive coordinator Bruce Arians will retire from coaching. "Bruce Arians has informed me that he will retire from coaching," Tomlin said in a statement released by the team. "I appreciate his efforts over the past five years as the team’s offensive coordinator and for helping lead our offense to new heights during his time with the Steelers. I am grateful to Bruce for contributing to our success and wish him nothing but the best in his retirement." No announcement was made regarding a replacement for Arians, but Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette expects one to come from outside the current coaching staff. Arians has been with the Steelers since 2004, coaching the team's receivers before being promoted to offensive coordinator in 2007. Under Arians, the Steelers ranked 17th, 22nd, 7th, 14th and 12th in total offense. Arians had opened up the Steelers offense, with the unit ranking in or near the Top 10 in passing offense the last three seasons.

Well like I told one of my Brownie friends, if you can't get RGIII at least I'm sure you'll be in great position to get Barkley next year. :icon_cheesygrin:

I'm ready to trade down again. Put any playmakers on that offense, give him a full offseason, and see if Colt has what he showed flashes of in 2010. If it's proven that we already Couched him, then I'll finally change my sig and get Barkley next year. We've been waiting for next year for decades. What's one more?

I agree, i'd do the exact same if i was Holmgren, especially if know team trades up before 4 to get RG 3, you should pull in a nice haul to trade down

I wonder if Mike Tomlin will consider hiring Brad Childress to be the OC. After all, Mike Tomlin was the DC in Minnesota when Brad was the HC.

I read this morning that Art Rooney II pretty much forced Arians out...not quite sure how valid that theory is...

I think Childress is up for the Colts job...not sure I would mind him as an OC.
